Over the last couple of years or so, I have watched a number of members come and go. There were ones who hung around for a long while, some that would post a few times and then fade away, some who would disappear for long stretches and then come back. But i think finally, (and I say this with sadness, because I liked this forum) finally I think this forum has truly died. As anyone can see by the lack of posts. No Posts.

So the question is... where... or rather, what writing forums are you going to, if any?

Of course if I am the only one who still clicks to this site just to see if any life has been pumped back into it then I guess no one will respond to this post.

If something is posted on this site and no one ever reads it... does it make a point?

An active forum community requires a body of twenty or so truly active members to keep itself going. WIthout that, it'll never really catch fire and get rolling.

Given that only about 1% of a podcast audience will get moving to become part of an online community in any way, and not all of those would be active on forums, it is my contention that a podcast needs about 10,000 regular listeners to sustain a forum community.

I don't get the impression that the numbers for ISBW are that high, though I could be wrong.

I hear you... goto the Nanowrimo forms I hung out there for a bit durning Nov. I just checked and they're still people posting on a daily basis there. If you're really keen and have the time, I'd suggest a writing class. There's just no substitute for in person contact. If you're looking for online critiquing there's a site call Urbis. You earn credit by critiquing other peoples work and use that credit to post your own work. I haven't been there in a long time. I have mixed feelings about the site. I've had people really appriciate my comments and had one that really soured me on it, because I didn't tell them how brilliant their work was. There's also the Dead Robot Society's Fourm, but there's low traffic there too, but there is activity. One of the hosts of the podcast, Justin, is always up for chit chat about writing. If you post he will come :p Any way that's all I have to say. Good luck.
